An oasis of green, water and trees in the countryside of Venice, just a few kilometres far from the lagoon and the Adriatic sea. This is what our estate looks like.
This flourishing piece of land has been organic for about 50 years and more recently became biodynamic and Demeter certified (read more about our biodynamic philosophy).
High trees, water streams, wild plants and all the wild animals coming here from the surroundings. It’s a magic place.
Geology plays a particular role in this place. It is called Caranto and is a compact layer of ancestral soil. A maritime clay stratification with calcareous nodules, which started forming in the Pleistocene era, between 11 thousand and 2,5 million years ago. All of the sea sediments got compressed by the weight of the water, before the sea withdrew from this area.
Today our vines root in a fertile superficial layer of soil and then down, deep into the Caranto, which gives a particular mineral allure to our wines.
Here we cultivate Glera, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay grapes, but vineyards are not our only focus.
We also have different crops and animals. We raise horses, cows, goats, sheeps and chickens.
Everything we do in this estate is a part of a circular farming system, respecting the environment and the next generations, according to Steiner’s biodynamic principles.
Wine and any other thing we produce here is Demeter certified.
